The cast for this drama/thriller film has an array of Oscar nominees and winners. It is directed by Denis Villeneuve, screenplay by Aaron Guzikowski, and produced by Mark Wahlberg. The film stars include Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, and newcomer Paul Dano. This story takes a turn for the worst when two young girls are abducted right in front of their own houses. The older teen siblings suspect that they were kidnapped by someone that was in a “white trailer.” Jake Gyllenhaal (Detective Loki) is the detective that warns the father (Hugh Jackman) of one of the girls to stay out of the way and let him do his job. Keller Dover, is adamant and believes that a man named Alex is behind the crime. Keller ultimately tries to take matters into his own hands.

There are many social issues in this film. All of the characters were subject to some kind of prison, whether it was violence and aggression, victimization and helplessness, regret, and/or rebellion. This was a well-written screenplay. I have to admit I was very disturbed watching this movie. Characters were very believable….especially Hugh Jackman’s character!
